BROWSING WITH YOUR MTN SIMCARD

Introduction

It is no longer news that Nigerians need to use the internet to do a lot of things and the funny aspect is that at a point in time, only people in urban areas had access to the net.

But all of a sudden, GPRS came and the story changed. At first, it was only from the angle of free browsing which is still on anyway but the telecom guys are out there to block the latest settings too.

But now, we have a way of connecting via the MTN GPRS network which means that you can browse anywhere which means that you can browse anywhere there is MTN network.

So, how do you make money with this? Number one, get yourself connected and start making use of the advantages online.

Number 2, start connecting for people. If you are a good guy and you charge just N5000 for the installation, by the time you help 30 people, that would be N150,000 for you depending on the number of days, weeks or month you used. So, what next? Let’s start.

Requirements

To connect to this network, you need a phone (preferably Nokia 3110c or 6230), a USB Cable, an MTN SIM card (Not anyone, I will tell you the one to use) and your computer.

The Phone

Because Nokia 3110C or 6230 is the most effective connection modem for this network, that is what I will use to explain in this manual. All the other higher versions like the N series too can also do this.

SIM Card

You are going to be using an MTN SIM card for this purpose and the MTN SIM card should be the one with “128k LAG”, “128k PH” but do not use any one with 64k, 32k or others. If you do, your connection will be very slow.

USB Cable

Just get the USB cable that works with the Nokia phone you want to use. If you are confused about this, go to the GSM engineers around you to help you out with this.

The Installation

The first thing you have to do is to install the Nokia PC suite on your computer.

If you do not have it, simply go to the Nokia website at www.nokia.com and search for Nokia 3110c and then download the Nokia PC suite. It is a heavy file like 30+MB. So, you will need a fast internet connection to do so or better still, you can go to any of these GSM repairers to buy it from them or see if they can give it to you for free.

The installation is easy. Just open the software setup and then click on all the NEXT you see until the installation is complete.

As at this time, there is nothing you can do with it, just close it and go to the next instructions below.

How to Connect to The MTN Network.

The first thing you have to do is to plug your USB cable to the phone and the computer.

Once you plug the cable to the phone, the phone will say “choose mode” all you have to do is to choose the Nokia mode and click OK.

The computer will also respond on the TASKBAR by showing “Connected to Nokia 3110C”

After this, go to your desktop and open the Nokia PC suite by double clicking on the Nokia PC suite as shown below:

When you open it, this is what you see.

Once the Nokia PC suite is opened, click on the “connect to internet icon.” It is the one I circled with red in the picture above.

Another box will open showing a phone trying to connect to the internet network.

Just look below and you will see 3 icons.

Click on the settings icon (the settings icon is the one represented by a spanner) and you will see this:

Choose your type of modem which is Nokia 3110C in this case and click on next.

After that, you will be asked to select your network operator, simply choose the first option and scroll through the drop down list to choose MTN Nigeria on the list the way you see it in the picture below and click on the FINISH icon.

NOTE - In case the Nokia PC suite you are using is an old version, you won’t see MTN Nigeria on the list and in this case, all you have to do is to choose the second option like I did in the diagram below and click next.

Then, in the next page that comes up fill in the following like I did here below:

Active Access Point: web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net

Username: wap

Password : wap

If wap does not work for both username and password, simply use “gprs” for username and password and then click finish as shown below.

Once you click on the FINISH icon on any of the 2 ways to choose your network, you will see that the computer would start making attempt immediately to make connection.

Once the connection is made, you will see that it will show connected as shown in the picture below.

Once it is connected this way, you will be able to browse but it will use up all your money very fast.

This is where you have to change to the MTN’s program for browsing.

Like I said, there are 3 different programs that you can subscribe to.

1. The first one is the N500 per day browsing (24 hours) with 50MB.

2. The second one is the Overnight browsing (11pm – 5am) with 3GB which goes for N2500 per month.

3. The third one is the 24 hours monthly browsing with 3GB which goes for N10,000

How to Change To Any Browsing Program Of Your Choice.

To change to the N500 per day program, send 103 to 131

To change to the Overnight browsing option, send 102 as SMS to 131

Drive with water

To change to the 24 hours monthly option, send 101 as SMS to 131.

You will have to load recharge cards worth N500, N2500 or N10, 000 respectively on your phone to be able to subscribe to any account of your choice.

Now, the recharge cards are the normal recharge cards that you use to load your phone for calling.

Once you send the SMS, you will receive a reply within 3 minutes if your network is good that you have been successfully migrated and that you can check your account balance (when your subscription will expire) by sending 2 as an SMS to 131.

With this, you can be browsing with the MTN network anywhere there is MTN network without any disturbance.

How You Can Profit From The MTN Internet Connection

Since you now know how to connect any laptop or desk top to the MTN internet network, let’s now talk on how you can earn money doing it.

Of course, you should know that people will pay you for helping them in solving a particular problem and the problem you have to solve for them here is to help in getting them connected and they will pay you handsomely for it.
